The Best Friend of 2009

Rev. David Beach of Albion is the Arc of Orleans’ Best Friend of 2009.  Rev. Beach, has been a friend of The Arc of Orleans County and the Orleans Enterprises Workshop for over 15 years.  Dave, recently retired from Associated Brands, has long been a supporter of, and advocate for, the Workshop and the individuals employed there.  He is always sure that the workers at the Workshop will be able to do the jobs that Associated Brands assigns them well and will complete them on time.  Dave has stopped in to check on the status of jobs, not only bring donuts with him, but pitching in himself – assisting with inventory and other projects.  Dave feels that the people served by The Arc can do anything because of their abilities and it shows by the excitement of the workers when a newjob comes in the door.  Dave has been a liaison between Orleans Enterprises and Associated Brands, working to resolve an issue or problem quickly so that work can continue as usual at the Workshop.  Due to Dave’s confidence in the individuals working at O.E., there is always incoming work from Associated Brands, and there is very little “down time” for the workers.  Since retiring from Associated Brands, Dave continues to be actively involved with The Arc of Orleans County, serving on The Arc’s Vocational Committee.  The Arc of Orleans is very fortunate to have such a caring and committed friend.    Rev. Beach was honored September 17, 2010 at the 30th annual Best Friend Dinner and Annual Meeting at Hickory Ridge Golf and Country Club in Holley.
