Family Support Services
You’re not alone. The Arc customizes services to help you and the people we serve set goals, determine needs and meet desires. We will be behind you, whether to offer advice and advocacy, a bit of time off, care when you can’t be there, or just a sympathetic ear. Here’s what we can do:
Case Management: We design custom case management for you and your loved one. It’s individual. It’s personal. You get what you need.
Family Reimbursement Program: Your child or relative with a developmental disability has needs. Sometimes you can’t afford them. We can help with reimbursement up to $1,000.
Supported Parenting Program: We help parents with developmental disabilities and whose children may or may not have them. This program is one of only about 40 across the United States, and has been featured on CNN News and Lifetime Television.
Empowering Families Educational Advocacy Program: Families of children ages birth to 21, in need of educational advocacy may receive information and referrals, along with direct advocacy for special education issues. For more information email: icaldwell@arcoforleans.org
Guardianship Services: We can provide long-term care and decisions in the best interest of your loved one when you’re no longer able to do it, yourself.
Respite Care: The Arc gives you a break from caring for a family member with a disability. The respite provider may be an aide or nurse, depending on your needs.
Support groups offer family members and caregivers an opportunity to address topics of interest and to help with advocacy and training needs. Groups also offer an avenue to receive support from others in similar circumstances.
